Kitatta trial halted as Army Court goes for recess
The trial of Boda-Boda 2010 patron Abdullah Kitata has been temporarily suspended since the Army Court in Makindye is on recess. This is according to Prosecution’s Major Rapheal Mugisha
Kitatta who is accused of Unlawful Possession of fire arms and ammunition was supposed to be brought back in court today.
However the General Court Martial is on a one month recess which will also enable the appointing authority, to appoint new members of the court, and replace some old members on the panel whose 2 terms have expired.
This means the court will have to reschedule all cases and give them new hearing dates.
Kitatta is on remand at Makindye Millitary police barracks while his 12 co-accused persons are in Luzira prison.
They were allegedly found with 2 pistols, an SMG gun, 55 rounds of ammunitions, Millitary uniforms and caps on January 21, 2018 at Vine Hotel at Wakaliga-Kampala District, in a motor vehicle UAK 135 B.
The arrest of Kitatta followed a crackdown on suspects linked to the murder of Francis Ekalungar, the former accountant of Case Clinic. Most of the suspects are Bodaboda 2010 members.
Ekalungar was kidnapped on January 2, this year by unknown assailants on his way to Dfcu Bank to deposit over 15M shs belonging to the hospital.
A day later, his burnt body was found at Kajjansi off Entebbe Road.
