Kiir signs peace agreement
South Sudan President Salva Kiir last evening finally signed the peace agreement in Juba.
Officials said Kiir signed the same hard copy document signed by rebel leader, Dr. Riek Machar in Addis Ababa on 17 August 2015.
Before signing the document, Kiir spoke about government’s reservations in the peace agreement which he said should be addressed.
Kiir’s allies say the agreement weakens the powers of the president through the formation of the position of First Vice President which will be taken by Machar and sharing power with rebels.
