Kenyan Man who raped granny and peppered her private parts losses appeal
A young man in Nakuru, Kenya who was sentenced to serve 20 years in jail for raping an 80-year-old woman will complete his jail term as earlier ruled, The High Court has ordered.
Jared Koita Munyaya was convicted on February 13, 2017 at a lower court in Molo but decided to appeal the sentence pointing out that the case was not proved and that he was not dissatisfied.
According to court documents, Koita was accused of raping the elderly woman on January 19, 2014 within Molo area in Nakuru County and was alternatively accused of committing indecent act with an adult against her wish contrary to the law.
The woman had testified that Koita forcefully removed her clothes; and raped her before applying pepper on her privates. The High Court Judge pointed out that identification evidence was solid since Koita was a neighbour to the complainant and she had known him for some time.
The higher court dismissed the appeal against conviction.
