The Inspector General of police Gen Kale Kayihura has made new appointments and transfers, redeploying several police officers who had earlier been sent on special training courses. Among the new appointments is that of senior commissioner of police Lodovick Awita who is now the new commandment of the VIP protection unit.
He is replaced by Assistant commissioner of police James Ruhweza as the chief of Joint security operations at Entebbe International Airport.
The assistant commissioner of police Stephen Tanui has been appointed as the new deputy commandment of the Field Force Unit while Philip Acaye is deployed as the new Regional police commander Kyoga east region.
The Assistant commissioner of police Sam Omala is the new director of Welfare, and production for special assignment while Assistant commissioner of policy Godfrey Maate is the new head of operations at the police headquarters.
The changes also see the assistant commissioner of police Siraje Bakaleke become the new regional police commander of the Kampala Metropolitan police south while Assistant commissioner of police Dan Munanura is the new director of ICT.
Senior Superintendent of police ,Stephen Ibanda is the new director of human resource and legal services.
