Katakwi Gets Shs700 M For Construction Of School
The Government has allocated over shs700 million for the construction of another technical school in Katakwi district. The school that will be erected in Ongongoja sub county in Usuk County is a second one, after Katakwi Technical School.
This was disclosed by The Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Jessica Alupo Epel, while on a tour of her constituency. The project is said to be a fulfillment of government’s to the people of the area recently and a direct show of government’s commitment to promoting Technical Education and Training in the region.
“About shs700M has been set aside for the construction of a technical that will be named Epel Technical Institute and actual construction work is expected to kick of in July,” The Minister said. Ms. Alupo went ahead to say that ministry officials had already inspected the land on which the school will sit adding that all the leaders in the district had endorsed the purported investment.“I urge all parents to embrace education, especially technical education, because the government is committed to offering free education to all citizens of Uganda,” she said while adding that those who had dropped out of school ought to consider going back to school.
The school in question will be a memorial outfit dedicated to the late George William Epel, father to Jessica Alupo Epel, who was murdered during the LRA incursion into Teso in 2003. The school will offer training Block Laying and Concrete Practice, Motor Vehicle mechanics and General Maintenance, Electrical Installation and Tailoring and Garment cutting.
