Kasese – IGP’s car knockes one dead
The Inspector General (IGP) of Police Kale Kayihura yesterday issued an apology to a group of rowdy boda-boda cyclists in Kasese town following the death of their colleague Eriya Kule, 32, a resident of Nyondo in Mughete parish Kyarumba sub –county, Kasese district who was knocked dead by one of the vehicles in his convoy at 8:40am.
His intervention followed commotion that erupted in Kasese town along Kilembe road last morning as boda-boda riders pelted stones which reacted by firing tear gas.
Kayihura is in the district to ensure security ahead of president Museveni’s scheduled visit tomorrow where they will pass out crime preventers.
Denis Namuwoza, the Regional Police Commander confirmed the incident and told the press that Constable Godwin Odobutwa has been arrested and detained at Kasese Central Police station to help in investigating the matter.
