Kadaga rejects Kasibante as COSASE Committee Vice Chairman
The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has rejected the appointment of the Independent Rubaga North Member of Parliament (MP), Moses Kasibante to the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authority and State Enterprises (COSASE) as the Vice Chairperson.
It should be noted that in August of last year Mubarak Munyagwa together with Moses Kasibante were appointed by the FDC president Patric Amurait as the new chairperson and vice chairperson of COSASE but their designation was derailed after the speaker ordered that they will have to wait until the two and half years of the then committee expired.
Kasibante’s disappointment has come this evening as the Independent Mp Andrew Aja Balwayanga designated him to serve on the Parliament Appointments Committee Chaired by the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga.
Balyayanga designated Kasibante to the Appointments committee on the prerogative of the Speaker who is the Independent whip.
This was rejected by the opposition whip, Ibrahim Semujju Nganda who requested that Kasibante be dropped from the Appointments Committee since he had designated him to serve as the Vice Chairperson to COSASE way back last year.
The Speaker however ruled rejecting Semujju’s request noting that Kasibante should go ahead and serve on the committee where he has been designated and approved.
Kadaga however has retaliated that COSASE will be allowed to finalise its probe into the closure of defunct banks with report expected next month despite their term to have ended on 13th this month.
