Kabale University Sinks in Debt
Kabale University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joy Constance Kwesiga has revealed that the institution is facing arrears and wage bill short fall of up to Shs6.8 billion ever since government took it over two years ago. Kwesiga says the short fall came as result of government taking over the university in the middle of the financial year.
She said her staff, who were put on the government pay roll are now owed up to Shs3.1billion. The VC revealed that government had committed to send in Shs3.7billion under the directive of President Yoweri Museveni but this money has never come.
