J. Cole’s new album is a hit
According to HipHopNMore, KOD is expected to sell approximately 400K units in its first week, with about 150K of that coming from pure album sales. That’s an impressive feat for an album that was announced about a week before it’s release, and will pretty much guarantee a debut at the top spot of the Billboard 200 chart.
It’s not all good news for Cole, however, as those projected numbers are slightly below the sales for his last album 4 Your Eyez Only, which moved almost half a million copies its first week. Still, this is set to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, album debuts we’ll be seeing this year. Cole has some tough competition though, as upcoming albums from Kanye and Drake could both have the potential to unseat Cole from his throne.
Regardless, Cole is well on his way to a number one album, and almost halfway to scoring yet another platinum album, with no features, yet again.
