Isingiro: Authorities raise a red flag over stray animals that have become a threat
Kaberebere Town Council in Isingiro district is struggling to contain stray animals which, according to the authorities, have become a threat in the area. They say that every day, cattle, dogs, goats , sheep as well as pigs are seen in the town council and its neighborhood loitering through markets, shops and across the streets.
Maurice Mugume, a resident of Kaberebere Town Council says the animals have become a challenge, destroying people’s property and disturbing public peace. Mohamed Kaddu, another resident is concerned that the animals are disrupting traffic while competing for space with motorists, pedestrians and vendors.
The area LC III Chairperson Patrick Kajumba says authorities are facing a serious challenge on the elimination of stray animals due to lack of resources and enforcement. He adds that the town council needs to acquire a yard where the impounded animals can be kept before collection by the owners or auction.
