‘Importing Cubans Is to Curtail Black mail by Ugandan Doctors’-Museveni
President Yoweri Museveni has spoken out on the move to import Cuban doctors saying it is intended to curtail what he calls black mail by Ugandan doctors.
In a statement presented at the celebrations to Mark the international labor day in Sembabule district, Trade Unions faulted the ministry of Health for wrongly handling the issue of Doctors.
Chairman General National Organization of Trade Unions Usher Wilson Owere noted that Doctors and other workers want to work under improved conditions and thus they should be heard.
However, in response, Museveni said the move to bring in Cuban doctors came after Ugandan doctors went on strike putting the lives of Ugandans at risk of death.
He says the doctors acted unprofessionally even after Government attempts to engage them on the matter.
Museveni also lashes at a section of the public that have criticized the move to increase pay for science teachers.
The Uganda national teachers union says the move to enhance salaries of science teachers is discriminatory and kills the motivation of other teachers.
