ICC not a donor: ICC to Uganda
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has told survivors of the Lukodi massacre that they will not be directly compensated but would benefit from rehabilitation interventions.
Speaking at the celebration of ICC Day in Lukodi village at the weekend, ICC Outreach Coordinator in-charge of Uganda and Kenya, Maria Kamara Mabinty, said the ICC was not a “donor-giving organisation” but an international legal court aimed at enforcing justice and fighting impunity.
Ms Kamara was responding to retired Bishop of Northern Uganda Diocese Nelson Onono Onweng’s request to the ICC to set up a vocational school as a form of reparation for the survivors of the massacres.
