Hull City have signed 19-year-old striker Chuba Akpom on a season-long loan from Arsenal.
The England under 20 international joined up with his new team-mates at the KC Stadium on Tuesday morning and could make his debut for Steve Bruce’s team in Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship opener with Huddersfield Town.
Akpom is highly-regarded at the Emirates Stadium and has a prolific scoring record for both Arsenal and England’s youth sides.
He has made a total of nine competitive first-team appearances for the Gunners and was recently involved in their pre-season tour to the Far East, scoring a hat-trick in Arsenal’s win over a Singapore Select XI in the Barclays Asia Trophy semi-final.
Akpom spent time on loan at Brentford, Coventry City and Nottingham Forest last season and so has experience of Championship football.
He has been capped for England at under 16, under 17, under 19 and under 20 level, scoring his first goals at the older age group against Holland last October.
Hull were relegated from the Barclays Premier League last season and are considered one of the favourites for promotion and an immediate return to the top division.
