Gov’t to enact a law to manage worker’s wages
The minister of State for Gender, Labour and Social Development, Hon. Mwesigwa Rukutana, has disclosed that the government will soon enact a law to manage workers’ wages. The wage will determine how much a particular worker should be paid per month. “It is in the interest of the government that the workers are paid a salary that enables them to live a moderate life,” he observed.
He also stressed that fixing wages has its own impact on the economy although necessary at times.
Therefore, they are to discuss with the minimum wage advisory board to study the economy holistically so as to determine the appropriate minimum wage.
