Government Urged On Rain Water Harvest Policy
Members of parliament sitting on the parliaments’ committee on Natural Resources want government to speed up a rain water Harvest policy to help the water stressed district get water for use.
MPs were also shocked to fear that the rainwater Harvesting project is among the unfunded priorities yet government is fully aware of the water scarcity in the some districts which usually are hit most during drought
Officials from Ministry of water and Environment led by the minister of water Sam Cheptris have been appearing before this committee chaired by Isingiro South MP Alex Byarugaba to present their budget for the financial year 2018/19.
Minister of Water and Environment Sam Chepotris said that government is going to get a loan from French development agency to assist in pumping water from River Kagera in western Uganda which shares with Tanzanian government.
The Committee chairperson who is also Isingiro South MP Alex Byarugaba said that district which includes Nakaseke, Mayuge, Karamoja, Isingiro, Rakai lack water sources like boreholes since its water tables very dry.
