Government begins Mineral Exploration in Bushenyi District
C31 Uganda SMC Limited is set to embark on mineral exploration in Bushenyi district. The company secured a three-year contract in 2017 from the Directorate of Geological survey and mines in the Energy and Development, which will run for the next three years.
C31 will make new geologic maps, ground geophysical surveys as well as use drones to conduct aerial surveys. The company has already embarked on sensitization meetings in the district ahead of plans to roll out the activities in the area.
According to Stephen Turyahikayo, who is leading a team of geologists to the district, the company will do exploration works for Tin, Cooper, Zinc, Gold, Nickel, and cobalt among other minerals. The exploration works will be conducted in the sub-counties of Kakanju, Kyamuhunga, Bitooma and Nyabubaare.
