Gilbert Arinaitwe’s Rape Case sent to Director of Public Prosecution
- The Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) has completed investigations into the rape allegations against , Gilbert Arinaitwe Bwana , a Senior Intelligence Officer and forwarded the file to the Director of Public Prosecution-DPP for sanctioning.
Vincent Ssekate, the CID Spokesperson, says they are awaiting response from the DPP. The DPP is mandated to sanction the case for prosecution or advise otherwise basing on the evidence provided by police. The officers completed their investigations after securing phone records placing the suspect and victim at the scene of crime. The investigations also show that Arinaitwe was in touch with the victim for over a week before the crime was committed.
The victim’s mother alleges that Arinaitwe met her 18-year-old daughter at the Child and Family protection unit at the CID headquarters in Kibuli where they had gone to seek for help. Arinaitwe allegedly took advantage of his position to get the contact of the girl, which he used to call her under the guise of helping her and raped her in his car.
