Four Kyazanga Mosque breaking suspects Granted Bail
- Four Muslims charged for breaking into Kyazanga Mosque, have been granted bail. The four include Sheikh Abdul-Nuuh Karemera-the Imam of Kyazanga Central Mosque, Abdul Muminu Swadabu, Abdu-Nuuh Kaye and Sheikh Siraje Mugerwa. They were charged with aggravated robbery for allegedly raiding and breaking into Kyazanga Mosque at Kanakulya Zone in Kyazanga, stealing several pairs of shoes, Muslim caps and 20 million Shillings.
Prosecution alleges that after the robbery, they also raided the office of Sheikh Yasin Kakomo located a few meters away and robbed 17 million Shillings from a safe box and an additional 480,000 Shillings from his followers.
They have been on remand for several months. Through their lawyer, the four Muslims told court that they have long stayed on remand and that they had been tortured at Nalufenya Detention Centre in Jinja, but their lawyer, Musa Ssembajja, says the case is politically motivated.
