Florentino Perez: Real Madrid happy to pay £100million for Gareth Bale
Just waiting for the call: Gareth Bale is primed to join Real Madrid
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez says he would have no problem in paying £100million for Tottenham winger Gareth Bale.
Bale is believed to be Madrid’s top transfer target this summer, with the club already confessing their desire to do business.
Spurs have since reacted by slapping a £100million price tag on the Welshman, but according to president Perez even that would not stop Madrid from pursuing a deal.
‘Regarding the figures spoken about Bale, players are neither cheap nor expensive – but an investment,’ said Perez when quizzed on the price tag.
‘Most expensive players are those that can be classified as an investment because, if they are very good, they produce a return.
‘Bale is one of the big players out there in Europe and Madrid always likes big players.’
However, it is understood that Madrid will first try and bag Bale on the cheap, believing they can reach an agreement for around £50million.
Tottenham hold all the cards in the negotiations, but Madrid feel they can force the transfer if Bale hands in a transfer request.
Talks are expected to begin later this month.
