Farmers Urged to Embrace Zero Grazing
As land available for animal rearing keeps getting scarce, farmers have been asked to embrace zero grazing, if they are to realise the benefits.
The call was made by Kabateraine Robert, the Chairman farmers Voice Network, a farmers advocacy group based in Mbarara.
Under the system of Zero grazing, farmers feed animals like cattle with cut grass brought to them under an established shade, instead of putting them out to feed themselves.
Kabateraine says Zero grazing enables farmers to have doubled milk production, and reduces the risk of animals contracting the disease since the animals donot mix with those that may be infected.
