Farmers sensitized on the use of Irrigation
Farmers have been challenged to embrace water for production Scheme to avoid the effects of drought due to variation in climate.Col. Geoffrey Muwanguzi the national in-charge of operations at Operation Wealth creation secretariat says that farmers should start water for production harvesting schemes so as to sustain their agricultural enterprises during the dry spell.
Speaking to our reporter yesterday following an Impact assessment field visit in Rwampara County and Mbarara municipality, Col. Muwanguzi revealed that most farmers are being challenged by prolonged drought in their activities thus calling upon them to start water harvesting for production and environmental conservation.
Meanwhile, Proscovia Mutumba the Crop development officer at NAADS secretariat urged the farmers to practice diversification and try out other ventures to be able to boost their income.
