Electoral Commission Adjusts Kyotera District Election Roadmap
The nomination of persons seeking to contest for political offices in the newly created Kyotera district will now take place on August 24, and August 25, about four days to the designated polling day.
The new nomination dates followed disagreements between the Electoral Commission and the ruling National Resistance Movement-NRM party over a roadmap which designated Thursday August 10 and Friday August 11 as nomination dates for the contenders at the various positions.
Kyotera, together with five other new districts will be voting for Woman Representatives to Parliament, District Chairperson and Local Government Councilors. The change in dates reduces the campaigning period from 18 days to only four days.
