EAC to Operationalize the Centre of Aviation in 2013/14
East African community civil aviation will operationalize the centre of aviation in 2013/14 financial year.
This was revealed by minister Sham Bageine who is the chairperson of council of ministers of the EAC.
He told news reporters that after the completion of the implementation of the common examination system, monitoring the process of implementation of the liberalization of the EAC air transport that will significantly address the challenges of high airfares in the region.
He says that with the coordination of development partners, the rehabilitation of the East African civil aviation academy and its return to the EAC as an institution will be finalized in 2013/14 financial year.
He added that the East Africa community civil aviation safety and security oversight Agency continues to execute its mandate of harmonization of regulations and technical guidance materials and monitoring the compliance of the partner states to international civil aviation organization standards and recommended practices.
Meanwhile minister Bageine said that, EAC civil aviation last year was able to achieve major milestone that will promote EAC integration process and strengthen the Agency capacity to meet its mandate which include the procurement and establishment of the EAC common examination system, commission of the SOFIA soft ware that will serve as a working tool for all technical personnel in the civil aviation authorities in the region.
