Dramatic Scenes Crown Final Rallies in Kyotera
- Democratic Party supporters have clashed with police during the final campaign rally of their candidate in Kyotera ahead of tomorrow’s elections. On Thursday, voters in Kyotera district go to the polls to elect their woman Member of Parliament, LC V Chairperson and the Kirumba and Nangoma sub county LC V councilors.
All candidates conducted a series of their final campaign rallies yesterday, however, the DP campaign rally in Kalisizo town council ended in clashes when police tried to stop the candidate for campaigning beyond 6pm as the rally went on until 8pm.
Two unidentified police officers stormed the campaign venue and tried to pull Beti Nambooze, the Mukono Municipality MP from the podium drawing angry responses from the DP supporters. They assaulted the officers accusing them of attempting to disrupt their rally. Nambooze said it was unfair for police to allow NRM members led by Haruna Kasolo, the Micro Finance State Minister to continue campaigning in the night in Mutukula and attempt to disperse the DP rally.
