Dr Ruhakana Rugunda strongly warns against creation of militia groups
Prime Minister, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda has issued a stern warning to politicians who are creating militia groups ahead of the 2016 general elections. He says government will not allow people to take the law in their own hands.
Recently, Kampala Mayor Elias Lukwago and Kawempe Mayor, Mubarak Munyagwa announced vigilante groups claiming this was a response to the militia created by notorious army officer Maj Kakooza Mutale to cause havoc in the 2016 polls.
The prime minister was speaking at the passing out 40,000 crime preventers at a function held at Kabale Municipal Stadium over the weekend.
Rugunda further said crime preventers don’t belong to any political party as stemmed from opposition accusations that crime preventers are being trained by government to beat up people who don’t support the NRM government.
