DPP and CID meet to improve on the Criminal Justice Delivery
The Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution and that of the Criminal Investigations Directorate are meeting at the Kabira Country Club for a Co-ordination Workshop aimed at the improvement of the Criminal Justice Delivery.
The Workshop is also intended towards the good governance of our Country now that its security is being threatened by continued crime.
Chief Justice Bert Katureebe has officiated the opening of the two day Workshop and called on the DPP, CID, Prisons and the Judiciary to join hands and think out of the box.
The Chief Justice wants a re-screening of all suspects languishing in prisons to weed out the unnecessary case files, find out the reasonable cause for why they were arrested, other than spending years on remand yet the actual criminals are still at large.
He also implored Government to fund all institutions vested with the duty of investigations so that they are able to do their work of keeping law and order diligently.
