DP Brief Kayihura on “K’ogikwatako” Campaign
The Democratic Party (DP) has notified the Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura about their intentions to hold a campaign dubbed “k’ogikwatako enyigo 102(b)” at the Constitutional Square on August 3, 2017 at 9.00am.
In a letter dated July 24 that ChimpReports has seen, the DP leadership writes to alert Kayihura about the drive aimed at sensitizing the public about the dangers of amending the article 102(b) to lift the presidential age limit.
The party’s acting Secretary general Dr Gerald Blacks Siranda, the signatory of the statement, notes that two activities will be carried out namely; walking from the DP Headquarters located at City House William Street to Constitutional Square where they will hang a campaign banner and launching the signing of the petition book to Members Of Parliament not to tamper amending article 102 (B).
Siranda further informs the IGP they have already harmonized with the Commandant Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP), Police Spokesperson KMP and the DPC of Central Police Station, Kampala.
“… following an interactive discussion while at Central Police Station with the Commandant Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP), Police Spokesperson KMP and the DPC of Central Police Station, Kampala ASP Joseph Bakaseka on 20th July, we agreed to notify your office about this activity,” part of the message reads.
