Democratic Party Wins Kyotera Woman MP Seat
- Robinah Ssentongo, the Democratic Party candidate won the Kyotera district parliamentary seat polling 21,731 votes to beat her main challenger, Rachael Nakitende from the ruling National Resistance Movement-NRM party who polled 15,511 votes.
According to the final results declared by Leticia Nantabo, the greater Masaka Region Returning Officer, Cissy Nantongo, an independent candidate in the race polled 3,272 votes followed by Phirista Nassali Nakato of Forum for Democratic Change who managed 2,224 votes while another independent candidate Joweriah Nabaale had only 266 votes.
- The District chairperson’s seat was however taken by Patrick Kintu Kisekulo, the NRM candidate after defeating four others.
- Kisekulo polled 19,481 votes, Democratic Party candidate Tom Darlington Balloja got 10,080 votes, while independent candidate Charles Lubega Zziridamu, got 10,692 votes.
