Demi Lovato First Statement Since Hospitalization
“[Addiction] is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet”
On Tuesday morning (July 24), Demi Lovato was hospitalized for an apparent overdose. Today, she’s shared a statement about the incident, thanking those who supported her and talking about her recovery. “I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction,” she said. “What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have no done yet.” See the full statement below.
Last year, Lovato released the documentary Simply Complicated, which detailed her struggles with substance abuse and addiction. She was admitted to rehab in October 2010 when she was 18 years old “for emotional and physical issues” and spent some time in 2013 living in a Los Angeles “sober house.”
