Court to Hear Sim-card Verification Case Today
High court in Kampala is today expected to hear the case in which the Jobless Brotherhood is challenging sim-card registration by use of National Identification card.
The case was fixed to be heard on May 15th 2017 but the trial Judge Steven Musota was engaged in other matters, which prompted the deputy registrar Alex Ajiji to schedule the case today.
The group claims that by so doing UCC denies Ugandans the right to use their passports and other official documents issued by government.
However, Uganda Communications Commission(UCC) has since defended its move, saying the National identification card is a superior identification document capturing all biometrics and personal identification particulars right from the local council level.
