Buganda Road court has denied bail to a 19 year old girl who was recently jailed with her boyfriend, for faking her kidnap and received 750, 000shs from her mother, as a disguised ransom.
Grade One Magistrate Samuel Kagoda sent back Peace Ansiimirwe and Julius Atwebembire to Luzira Prison after finding their surities not substantial.
They now return to court on 1st/June as inquiries into their case continue.
Ansiimirwe is a student and a resident of Bushenyi District, while her 22year old boy- friend is a resident of Kasubi in Lubaga Division-Kampala District.
The two are facing charges of demanding money by force , obtaining money by false pretence and conspiracy to commit a felony .
Prosecution alleges that on 23rd/April 2018 at Kasubi in Lubaga Division, the two hatched a plot to defraud Scovia Nahabwe of 3million shillings, and received 750, 000 shillings, by falsely pretending that the said money was to rescue Ansiimirwe from kidnappers where as not .
The girl’s mother Nahabwe then reported the matter to police, and on tracking the numerous telephone calls she received to rescue Ansiimirwe, they all pointed at Atwebembire who had eloped with her daughter in Kasubi.
