Cabinet Approves Members of the NGOs Bureau
- Cabinet has approved the appointment the Board of Directors of the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) Bureau. The Information, Communication and Technology Minister, Frank Tumwebaze, says the seven appointees were approved during the cabinet meeting yesterday.
They include Charles Oleny Ojok as the Chairperson Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) Bureau, Gloria Androa Loyce, Vice Chairman while Ratibu Buga, Damalie Kironde, Don Mugimba, John Mulimba and Margret Sekagya are members.
The Board members will severe for 3 years and are eligible for re-appointment for another term. The NGOs Bureau is a semi-autonomous body under the Internal Affairs Ministry that is provided for in the NGO Act 2016. The NGO Act mandates the NGOs Bureau to register, regulate, coordinate, inspect, monitor and oversee all NGO operations in the country. Information on the Internal Affairs Ministry shows that there are currently 13,000 registered NGOs in Uganda.
