BUSHENYI: Gun robbery Escalates, Thugs hire Gun from Security Company In Mbarara, Steal Lots of Money
Gun crime continues to find a place in Bushenyi district. Just days after police in Bushenyi arrested ten people and recovered a gun with ten rounds of ammunition, the force has again detained two people who last night attacked a bar known as Tides bar in Bushenyi town, and made away with unspecified bundles of money, after ransacking customers and bar operators.
It is always common for thugs to attack in the late night, but this incident happened early at around 9:00pm.
The Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, Martial Tumusiime says police was notified in time, swung into place and were able to follow and arrest the thugs, including the gun that they had used in the robbery.
Martial reveals that the gun used in the act was hired from a security company in Mbarara, although he declined to mention the company.
Cases of security companies hiring out guns to criminals are not new. In august 2017, a security guard attached to Hi-Tech Security company hire out his gun to robbers.
Steven Ndakaza, had been deployed to guard Justar Microfinance office in Kasangati Town Council. The gun was later found hidden in a bush, after reportedly being used by thugs to terrorize the community. There have been many cases of such nature reported in different parts of the country.
