Bishop Sheldon Mwesigwa: Some Religious Leaders have Lost Direction
Rt. Reverend Dr. Sheldon Mwesigwa, the Bishop of Ankole Diocese, says there is need for religious leaders to clean up irrespective of where they belong.
According to Dr. Mwesigwa, some Ugandans have lost trust in the clergy, because of the conduct of some religious leaders.
He hailed efforts by the Inter Religious Council of Uganda and Directorate of Ethics to address some of the issues raised against some religious leaders such as extortion and cheating of believers among other things.
Dr. Mwesigwa said this during a consultative meeting on national dialogue for religious leaders drawn from Ankole region held at Oxford Inn in Mbarara yesterday. The meeting was organized by the Inter Religious Council of Uganda and the Great Lakes Institute for strategic Studies.
