Benitez may take Napoli helm after Chelsea interim adventure comes to an end
Rafael Benitez’s agent has refused to rule out a move to Italian club Napoli.
Benitez, 53, ended his reign at Stamford Bridge yesterday – but will take Chelsea on their post-season tour of the US – and is also among the leading contenders to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Paris St Germain.
But Benitez is favourite to replace Walter Mazzarri at Napoli who announced he was leaving the Stadio San Paolo after Sunday’s game with Roma.
Benitez’s agent Garcia Manuel Quillon said: ‘Napoli is a great club, so we won’t rule out or confirm anything.’
‘Benitez’s future is not decided yet, so anything is possible. This year Chelsea was a very important test for him, to take a team that was not in good shape and bring them to win the Europa League.
‘Napoli is a great club that has improved a lot, so we won’t rule out or confirm anything. I cannot say any more on the issue.
‘At the moment no directors have contacted us and I don’t know whether or not De Laurentiis will visit me over the next few days. I repeat, Benitez’s future is uncertain. We’ll see what happens.’
