Agago Residents Concerned With the Influx of Balalo Herders In the Area
- The people of Agago district have expressed serious economic and security fears over the influx of Balalo herdsmen in the area. Agago District woman MP, Judith Franc Akello says that tension is growing after the invasion of Balalo herdsmen who are ferrying thousands of cattle to the area.
- Akello says that Balalo herdsmen are hiring small pieces of land which cannot accommodate their animals and ending up encroaching on people’s land for cultivation.
- She says that as the President re-embarks on his National wide sensitization campaign on land amendment bill, he should intervene by asking the Balalo to vacate the area in order to avert the possible conflicts.
