AG Peter Nyombi Supports Mayor Lukwago’s Censure
Attorney General Peter Nyombi has supported the move the censure Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago by advising the Minister for Kampala Frank Tumwebaze to write to the Chief Justice to open an investigation against him.
The move to censure Lukwago follows a petition which was filed by over 30 Councillors at Kampala Capital City Authority demanding that Lukwago to be chased away from leadership.
The Councillors accuse Lukwago of misconduct ,incompetence and abuse of office. The Councillors in their petition alleged that Lukwago has engaged in inciting acts under the cover of monitoring KCCA programmes, which have resulted in the destruction of property, merchandise, livelihood, suffering, and death of innocent citizens of Kampala.
Now Uganda Picks has learnt that the Attorney General has already written to the Chief Justice to take appropriate action against Lukwago .In response ,the chief Justice has also appointed a six-member panel to handle the petition.
The Attorney General says the Councillors have genuine reasons to raise their hand against the Lord Mayor.
