21 Arrested For Early Morning Drinking
The Police in Mella sub county Tororo county are currently holding 21 drunkards that were arrested for early morning drinking, a practice the police say ascribes to idleness and disorderliness.
In an early morning patrol done in collaboration with the area political leaders on Monday, the police surrounded up the early boozers in the busy trading centers of Mella market and Total trading center and Koitangiro.
According to Mr. Olira Peter, the area LC3 chairman, the patrol was mounted following the district’s council’s resolution to have anyone found drinking in the morning hours arrested in order to ensure that early morning drinking is minimized such that people get engaged in productive activities like farming.
“We almost arrested one LC1 chairman of Katek village who fled to Malaba town council on seeing us. We are told he is hiding there. Others fled to neighbouring Kenya and Osukuru Sub County for safety,” Olira said
Suspects who were arrested were paraded with their glasses of crude Waragi, Sackets of Empire Waragi and pots containing the local gin, ajoon. The police have said that the suspects will be charged with being idle and disorderly.
