Flop striker is on massive wages despite netting only once this season before being farmed out on loan
Flop: Chamakh has been to sent West Ham on loan
Arsenal flop Marouane Chamakh has ended up costing the club £14million over the last three years.
The Gunners are actively seeking to offload the striker so that they are not lumbered with his £93,000-a-week salary for another season.
Chamakh, 29, was able to command his whopping wages because he joined Arsenal on a free transfer after winning the title with Bordeaux four years ago.
But Chamakh has been a bitter disappointment and was farmed out to West Ham in January.
The Hammers are currently paying £40,000 of his wages but he has failed to make any impact at all under Sam Allardyce at Upton Park.
Chamakh hit 11 goals in his debut season at Arsenal, but in his second he managed just one.
This season he hit only two, in Arsenal’s League Cup win over Reading.
The appearance was one of only four in Gunners colours before he was farmed out on loan to West Ham.
The financial burden of his salary is now set to be shifted back on to Arsenal with Chamakh’s loan spell coming to an end.
He has a year left on his contract but Bordeaux are interested in taking him back on a reduced salary while Spanish side Real Betis are also interested.
