10 Government officials wanted for Questioning over age limit case in Mbale
Elias Lukwago one of the Lawyers representing the petitioners in the age limit case, have asked the Constitutional court to compel over 10 government officials,
including the speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga , The chief of defence forces Gen. Muhoozi David, head of public service John Mitala, Mps Moses Balyeku, Margret Kubanga and the Secretary to Treasury Keith Muhakanizi to appear in court in Mbale and be cross -examined on the evidence they filed in respect of this case.
Others officials that the petitioners seek court to summon are ; police officers Frank Mwesigwa, Asuman Muguenyi, the clerk to parliament Jane Kibirige and the sgt at arms at Parliament Ahmed Kagoye .
However this application was objected to by the Deputy Attorney General Mwesigwa Rukutana saying there is no justification showed by the petitioners, to the effect that the evidence the officials will give in cross-examination will help court reach a just decision.
Rukutana added that the court can rely on the evidence already contained in their affidavits.
The Panel of five Justices led by Deputy Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny Ddolo said they will give a ruling on the matter at 3pm this afternoon.
